i couldn't think of what to write today

so i made a list. i was inspired by nick's post, which was in turn, inspired by syl's post, of things i like.

so here we go:

  1. my morning coffee and reading ritual.
  2. my music collection.
  3. taking photographs.
  4. playing my guitar.
  5. going to shows at small venues (preferably diy spaces) community!
  6. writing in my journal, or on my typewriter.
  7. riding my bike.
  8. baking banana bread.
  9. sitting on my couch, a candle burning, reading.
  10. watching movies, like full length feature films on dvd.

i could go on, as i'm sitting here, i'm already thinking of things that could bring this list closer to 20, but i wanted to keep it at my top 10, if only as a reference to future me, when i'm having one of those inevitable depressive spirals where i feel uninspired and don't know what to do with myself.

i've really enjoyed seeing more and more people share about their interests, and enjoying things that move away from digital, algorithmically generated things like spotify playlists and netflix series, to embrace more physical, real world activities, acts that cause you to slow down and enjoy time passing. nick also posted about how we are living in a sort of cultural renaissance, comparing today's trends to trends of the Italian renaissance of the 14th-17th centuries. it really makes me more excited for what the future holds, and makes it a little easier to go against the grain and not use the popular social media apps, like instagram, that ultimately take me away from these small rituals and interests that i love so much.

if you're reading this, what's on your top 10? let's keep this going!
