morning poem / granola and yogurt
in 2021, i made a list of things i enjoy, and things i don't enjoy. i wrote poems inspired by each thing on the list, except i didn't use the name of the thing in the poem. i typed all of them on paper in my favorite typewriter, and put them together into a zine that i still have to finish. i hope to finish it soon. it just needs a few more pages and a cover. this is the first poem in the collection. i think i want to make a page on my blog for poems, and that will be where some of the others live.
tumbles into the bowl
making a sound akin to
small grains of sand
or perhaps stones
*clink clink clunk ta*
come to rest a while
enough to give energy
to carry oneself
through the hours of the day
a routine so delicate
it must be savored
perhaps with the sweetness
of a drizzle of honey
washed down with sips
of black coffee
stand up
i am ready
i slept in today. for a few more months, tuesdays are my free days, and then sometime towards the beginning of july, i will be full time in my role at work. i'm excited, this is a big thing for me. until then though, i have made it my mission to fully enjoy having tuesdays free, and always sleep in.
its another beautiful, warm day, somewhere in the high 70s i think. i'm going to put on some good sneakers and go for a walk, maybe sit in a park for a bit, and return a book to the library.
