now this is devotion
I'm literally sitting in bed with my computer, typing this up right now, because I want to stick to my habit of writing daily, and sharing to this blog.
Today was a good Monday. It was, once again, unseasonably warm. By 1:00 it was in the 50s, and I ditched my scarf on my walk home for lunch. I made a simple grilled cheese, and didn't scroll on my phone while I ate it. I love that. I love just eating in silence, looking out the window at the rooftops and the brick walls of the neighbor's apartments. Then my time was up and I walked back to work.
The afternoon was very slow, and I mostly just read while keeping an eye on my email. I didn't mind though. I love this new job, and look forward to growing in it and continuing to find a place for myself in this world. Despite the stress of getting to Richmond, going through the hurricane in Asheville, spending years working as barista, feeling generally aimless and like I couldn't find direction, somehow I feel it was all worth it to find myself here in Richmond, with the people I've met from the photo club.
I came home and made a really good dinner, a vegetarian version of a recipe my mom would make us as kids. American chop suey. Typically ground beef, peppers, onions, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. I made it with tofu and mushrooms instead, and it honestly tasted better than I've ever made it before.
I want to do more vegetarian cooking this year. I like eating like this. I feel cleaner, more energized, and healthier. That could be the lack of cigarettes too, and the biking.
Well, its time for me to shut the laptop and go to bed.
